Becoming an Embryo Recipient
The Embryos available for donation were initially created during the
IVF process and then frozen (cryopreserved). When the initial patient has completed
their family building process, they can chose to donate these embryos to another
patient.
Embryo donation is often a beneficial choice for both donor(s) and recipient(s).
For those donating embryos, it is a positive and exciting way to resolve a challenging
dilemma. For the recipients, it can be a wonderful opportunity to experience
pregnancy and childbirth.
Using donated embryos may be the right way to build your family if:
- Both partners struggle with infertility
- Either partner has a high risk of passing
on genetic disorders to their offspring
- Patients have recurrent IVF failures or
multiple pregnancy loss
FPNC has a limited number of donated embryos, but if you are interested in
the possibility of becoming a recipient of embryos please schedule an appointment
to meet with an FPNC physician. We work with internal patients to match recipients
with our supply of donated embryos. The match, based on patient history and eligibility,
is anonymous. FPNC does not turn anyone down because of race, age, marital status,
sexual preferences, or religion. Each recipient(s) undergo FDA required infectious
disease screening, as well as reproductive tests to determine the best placement
location and cycle timing before the actual embryo transfer occurs.
FPNC understands that embryo donation is an important decision and it is our
mission to help as much as possible. While we do offer our own internal embryos
for donation, there are other agencies who also offer information on third party
reproduction. Here are several recommendations:
